He enlisted on February 28, 1862 and was mustered into the First Regiment Connecticut Volunteer Heavy Artillery Company L as a Second Lieutenant on March 12, 1862. On January 1, 1863 he was promoted to First Lieutenant. He resigned on July 27, 1863. (Ruocco, 04/14/2012)
