RIGGS / 1 CONN HA"; lower center, in pencil, accession numberNotesSubject Note: Charles Riggs of Derby enlisted and was mustered in as a private in the First Connecticut Volunteer Heavy Artillery on May 22 1861. He was discharged on May 21 1864 when his time expired. He then enlisted and was mustered in as a corporal in the Third Connecticut Volunteer Light Battery. He was promoted to sergeant on January 1 1865 and mustered out June 23 1865.
