DescriptionBlack silk quilted petticoat. The quilting is done in horizontal rows, spaced 1 1/2 inches apart, around the lower thirteen inches of the petticoat; above this, the quilting is done in widely-spaced vertical lines. The petticoat is knife-pleated around the hips and back; it is flat in front. The waistband is brown cotton. The lining fabric is dark brown cotton. The bottom edge is bound with black wool tape. The quilting is done with black thread, at five stitches per inch. The batting is undyed cotton.
