InscribedOn verso, lower right, in pencil, accession numberNotesSubject Note: William J. "Bill" Hamersley was born in 1887 and died of influenza in 1918 at Camp Devens in Ayers, Massachusettes. He was an alumnus of Trinity College and Harvard Law school. He was married to Emily Brace Collins for two years before he died and the couple had one child, Jane Hamersley Wright. It is possible that this photograph was taken in Old Lyme, like others in the series. However, other photographs in the group appear to have been taken elsewhere, some possibly in Hartford.
