DescriptionThree-quarter-length portrait of a middle-aged man standing beside a table. He wears a coat vest, shirt, tie and cape with a plaid lining. A quill pen, an inkwell, a rolled sheet of paper and three books are on the table. A balustrade, a fluted column, trees and a government building, possibly a state capitol, are in the background.
