His father died when he was eight years old and he learned the trade of shoemaking. He married Olive M. Booth, the daughter of a cabinetmaker, in 1823. He converted to Methodism and was active in the Methodist community in Southford. He later moved to Humphreyville, then to Seymour. He died in 1876. (Finlay 4/29/2011)
