DescriptionStore and brick commercial building in dilapidated condition. Lettering on the brick wall reads "C.V.R.R. Station." A broadside reads "Hartford / Telegram.../ Theatre Coupons." Utility poles and the elevated tracks of the Connecticut Valley Railroad are at the left. A building with louvered shutters is at the right. A paved sidewalk and a dirt street are in the foreground.

InscribedOn verso, at top, in blue ink, "1894 / This building was erected in 1835 by my father, (Edwin / Taylor), at the foot of State Street on the south side / Now used as station for the Conn Valley RRd. / He kept store in the basement which has been / very much filled up around. There were no railroad cars then / and this building faced the landing of the New York / boats and was the business center".In different hand, in black ink, "C.H.S. / SAMUEL TAYLOR COLL."
