He worked for his father's dry goods business, and later became a director of the Aetna Insurance Company, a director and vice-president of Hartford Hospital, and a director of the American School for the Deaf. He was among the promoters of the Harford & Wethersfield Horse Railroad and Cedar Hill Cemetery. He died in Hartford on April 8, 1880. (Ruocco, 04/6/12)
