NotesSamuel Huntington was born in Scotland, Connecticut and practiced law in Norwich, before becoming a delegate to the Continental Congress. Following the adoption of the Articles of Confederation in 1781, he became the first President of "The United States in Congress Assembled." He served as Governor of Connecticut from 1786 to 1796.
