DescriptionA coal tower, apparently abandoned, dominates a barren landscape. A spiral metal staircase and a metal ladder lead up the right side of the tower. Leafless trees grow around it. Utility towers and high voltage power lines are in the background. An elevated highway or railroad line runs behind the tower. Other industrial buildings, perhaps related to the railroad, are in the background.
Object number2007.59.1
NotesSubject Note: The old coaling tower was a prominent feature in Cedar Hill Yard, part of the New Haven Terminal that served converging rail lines. The tower still survives as of 2007, though the rail yard is much less extensive than it once was. Finlay 2/12/2008)
