Meta Heinze was born in Sweden in 1871and moved to the United States in 1880. She came with her sister and they worked as maids for wealthy families around Hartford such as the Ponds. The Ponds House in Elizabeth Park is named after them. She married Alexander in 1900 and her daughter Amy was born in 1906. (1910 Federal Census, Hartford Courant: Sept. 12, 2004)
