DescriptionRectangular pasteboard box (.a) and lid (.b) covered with a beige paper printed in brown ink with a dotted geometric pattern. A pasted on paper label on the top of the lid is printed in blue ink, and has a patterned border. The label reads, "THE AMERICAN / RIPOPHAGON / SOAP / OR, / Shaving Compound, / MANUFACTURED EXPRESSLY FOR / SHELDON, HARRIS & WILLIAMS, / NEW-YORK."
There are handwritten notes and calculations on the interior of the box lid.

InscribedOn the inside of the lid (.b) a note handwritten in ink reads, "Chalk Balls / #222". Several other small illegible notes and calculations are written in pencil.
