NotesHistorical Note: Tags preserved with cap indicate that it was previously owned by the donor's mother, Doane S. Peirce Eddy (Mrs. Lawrence Eddy), and her mother, Mrs. Robert D. Peirce. The style of the cap dates it to the 1870s, suggesting that it may have been worn by the donor's maternal grandfather, Robert D. Peirce (b. 1868). (Schoelwer 3/21/2002)
