DescriptionBrown thread on a wooden spool. Each end of the spool tapers toward the middle, creating an elongated hourglass shape. Each flat end of the spool has a paper label affixed to it; both labels are printed in blue ink. One label reads, "L. J. COATES/ [missing words] HE/ U. STATES", and the other label reads, "COATES/ BEST S[two missing letters] CORD". Each label has an ornamental blue border. Each label is punctured in the middle.
