NotesSubject Note: Daniel Wadsworth was born on 8 August 1771 in Middletown, the son of Colonel Jeremiah and Mehitable (Russell) Wadsworth. He married on 26 June 1794 Faith Trumbull, daughter of Jonathan and Eunice (Backus) Trumbull. Faith died on 19 October 1846 at age 77, and he died on 28 July 1848 at age 77. Wadsworth was educated in England and France and painted numerous watercolors sketches of scenery during his travels. He acquired a large fortune working for his father and later founded the Wadsworth Atheneum on land that was in his family for more than a century. Wadsworth also played a part in the founding of a Deaf and Dumb Asylum and the Retreat for the Insane.On View
