Major Seymour commanded the Governor's Horse Guards from 1803-1807. He married Jane Ellery (d. 1851) on 19 June 1804 in Hartford. One of their three children was Thomas Hart Seymour (1808-1868), Governor of Connecticut from 1850-1853.
