BiographyDaniel Brewster, son of Captain John Brewster, was born 12 April 1731. He married his first wife, Phebe Williams of Groton, Connecticut on 31 May 1753. They had three children: Hannah (b. 1754); John (1756-1763); and Asaph (1758-1769.) Phebe died 13 September 1758. Daniel Brewster married again on 8 December 1741. His second wife was Elizabeth Swan (1741-1817) of Stonington, Connecticut, daughter of Asa and Marvin Holmes Swan. They had nine children: John (b. 1767); Jabez (b. 1769); Marvil (b. 1771); Phebe (b. 1773); Asa Swan (1775-1840); Elizabeth (b. 1777); Daniel (b. 1780); Lyman D. (1782-1835); and Otis (1785-1787.)
Daniel Brewster had lived in Norwich, Connecticut, but in 1778 he purchased a farm in Salibury from Connecticut Governor Chittenden. He died in Salisbury on 31 March 1814. His wife Elizabeth Swan Brewster died there three years later on 4 August 1817. The Brewster home in Salibury is still standing, and remains in good condition.
