BiographyMichael F. Conway was born 9 March 1858 in Mount Carmel, Connecticut. He was the son of Catherine Moran Conway and Patrick Conway, who had come to Mount Carmel in 1830. He married, and had three children: Mrs. Michael A. Connor; Jane M. Conway; and James M. Conway.
Michael F. Conway became a well-known dance instructor, with studios at 235 Wethersfield Avenue and 108 Babcock Street in Hartford, Connecticut. In 1911, he went to Europe as part of the American National Association of Dancing Masters to teach in Vienna, Paris, Berlin, and London. He was one of the first presidents of that organization; he retired in 1930. Michael F. Conway died in Hartford, Connecticut, on 5 July 1940.
