BiographyDavid Strong (17 Aug. 1825 - 29 April 1914) was the son of John C. A. Strong (1799-1870) and Deborah L. Clark (1803-1885). He was born in East Hampton, Connecticut.
He married three times. His first wife was Frances A. Daniels (1831-1856), married in 1852. They had no children. He second wife was Maria Chloe Colt (1834-1865), married in 1857. They had one son, John Henry Strong (1859-1860). His third wife was Emerette Lois Colt (1841-1924), married in 1866. They had five children: Frederick C. Strong (1867-1953), Arthur David Strong (1870-1871), Herbert Gillett Strong (1871-1955), Walter Colt Strong (1875-1877), and Homer David Strong (1879-1954).
He was president of the Strong Manufacturing Company in Winsted, Connecticut. He served as first lieutenant of Company E, 24th Connecticut Volunteers in the Civil War.
