BiographyHarriet Bowen Cheney Cowles was born in 1868. She was the daughter of Knight Dexter Cheney (1837-1907) and Ednah Dow Smith (1841-1915). She had ten siblings.

She married William Hutchinson Cowles (1866-1946) in 1896. They had two children: Harriet Cowles Hammett Graham (1898-1975) and William Hutchinson Cowles, Jr. (1902-1971).

She died in 1938.
