BiographyYang Chan Ling was born in 1863 in Shunde, Guangdong.

He was a student of the Chinese Educational Mission, and was hosted by the following families: James Coles (Winchester, Connecticut), Elizabeth (Lizzie) Clark (Greenfield, Massachusetts), and William H. and Josephine S. Foote (Westfield, Massachusetts).

Yang served as a military instructor at the Nanjing Military School, in the railway service at the Peking-Mukden Railway, and Chief Freight Manager of the Ping-Lei Line, among other duties.

Yang Chan Ling died in Tianjin (Tientsin), China.
