DescriptionCylindrical, five gallon, wide-mouthed stoneware jar or crock with a salt glaze on the exterior and a brown slip glaze on the interior. The jar/crock has a flat bottom and cylindrical sides that rise to a flattened, rolled rim. An incised line circles the jar/crock just over an inch below the rim. Two delicate pulled lug handles are attached on opposite sides of the jar/crock. The handles are pressed against the jar/crock along their full length, attaching completely about an inch below the rim and over the incised line. On one side, between the handles and just below the rim, is an impressed mark, "O. H. SEYMOUR/ HARTFORD/ 5". The mark is decorated with a limited amount of cobalt blue. Just below the mark is an exuberant, hand-painted cobalt blue pineapple over a double curved line.

The most thickly applied portions of the cobalt blue decoration have flaked off, revealing a red-toned ceramic below. Portions of the salt glaze around the pineapple and on the bottom have flaked off as well. Additional glaze has flaked off of the bottom of the side opposite the pineapple. There are round, light brown stains below each of the handles. There are three hairline cracks on the bottom edge of the jar/crock, to the lower right of the pineapple. There are four chips in the stoneware along the bottom edge, near the hairline cracks.
