DescriptionWine glass made of blown and cut colorless lead glass. The wine glass has a 'U'-shaped bowl above a hexagonal panel-cut stem and round foot. The bottom of the foot is flat and has a polished pontil mark. The glass has been cut with six flutes where the bowl meets the stem; the flutes continue down to shape the hexagonal stem. An elaborate, angular letter "B" is wheel engraved into the glass to one side, between the rim and flutes. There is one small chip on the bottom of the foot, as well as two spots of a hard unknown substance.
Pontil mark: A rough place on a blown glass object where the solid metal rod, or pontil, is cracked off the object after final shaping and decoration. Pontil marks can be polished to achieve a smooth surface.
