DescriptionPair of pressed colorless glass show jars with stoppers (.26a,b and .27a,b) supported by two separate black metal stands (.26c and .27c).
Show jars with stoppers (.26a,b and .27a,b): Each show jar consists of a rolled rim, a short cylindrical neck, a triple-curved sloping shoulder, and a body that tapers gradually, then more so, to form an inverted cone. Three shallow, triangular protrusions of glass are evenly spaced on the outside of each show jar; these are probably intended to stabilize it in the stand. The neck of each show jar is ground to receive a stopper. Each stopper (.b) is hollow and consists of a smooth, flame-shaped finial above a short, ground, tapered cylindrical portion that fits into the neck of the show jar. Each hollow stopper is sealed on the bottom with a black rubber, cylindrical plug. Both show jars and stoppers are filled with a colored liquid. Show jar and stopper .26a,b are filled with a bright red liquid that is translucent in the show jar, but opaque and nearly orange in the stopper. Show jar and stopper .27a,b are filled with a dark green liquid that is translucent in the stopper but opaque and very dark in the show jar. Stopper .27b has a curved crack running through one side.
Stands (.26c and .27c): Each tripod stand is formed from two tapered rings that are connected by three thin, metal supports. The supports connect to the largest ring at the top, then narrow to connect to the smaller ring, before flaring out to form the bottom of each stand.
