DescriptionCylindrical, six gallon, wide-mouthed stoneware jar or crock with a salt glaze on the exterior and a brown slip glaze, or Albany-type slip glaze, on the interior. The jar/crock has a flat foot and cylindrical sides that rise to a flattened, rolled rim. Just below the rim, two incised lines circle the jar/crock. Two pulled lug handles are pressed against the jar/crock along their full length, attaching completely to the jar/crock on opposite sides, just below the two incised lines. On one side, between the two handles, is an impressed mark, "SEYMOUR & BOSWORTH/ HARTFORD". Below this is a stamped number "6". The mark is lightly decorated with cobalt blue, although the jar/crock's primary decoration is hand-painted in cobalt blue below the mark. The design consists of a curved scroll with the hand-written words, "Truly Yours HARTFORD" inside. Where the scroll curves down to the right, a bird sits in the curve of the scroll and looks up at another bird resting on branches that are drawn just below the mark. Foliage is drawn in the area beneath the scroll, as it curves up to the left.

There is crazing over all the glazed surfaces of the jar/crock and many minor imperfections in the glaze. The remnants of a square paper label are adhered to the jar/crock beneath one handle. There are some remnants of a substance that spilled down the side of the jar/crock in this same area. There is one chip on the outside of the rim, opposite the mark. A few remnants of an unknown white substance are adhered to the inside walls of the jar/crock.
