DescriptionSmall-mouthed redware preserve jar with a cylindrical body, narrow neck, and a rim that supports a fitted lid. The interior of the jar (.a) is coated with a lead glaze, and much of the exterior is as well, with the exception of the bottom two inches of the jar, which are unglazed. Several irregular patches of manganese black have been applied to the exterior of the jar, but not the lid (.b). The circular lid is flat and lead glazed, and has a small disc-shaped finial in the center.

There is significant crazing on all the glazed surfaces of the jar. A few spots of redware are visible on the shoulder of the jar, where the glaze chipped off or never covered the surface of the redware. There are a few chips in the glaze on rim of the jar (.a), one large chip on the rim of the lid (.b), and one large and one small chip on the rim of the finial on the lid.
