DescriptionEleven round, porcelain teacups with hand-painted pink luster decoration. The teacups are part of a partial tea service consisting of a teapot (.1a,b), lidded sugar bowl (.2a,b), cream pitcher (.3), eleven teacups (.4a-.14a), eleven saucers (.4b-.14b), and two dishes (.15-.16). The primary decoration on this partial set consists of a band of hand-painted decoration between two lines of pink luster. The decoration consists of evenly-spaced, long, triangular shapes with a scalloped edge. Between these are abstract, long, slender leaves and branches, with occasional clusters of three small dots of red enamel, probably representing berries.

The teacups all sit on a circular foot and have sides that widen to a slightly flared rim. The sides of each teacup are decorated with the hand-painted band of pink luster and red enamel decoration described above. There is an additional line of pink luster on the inside of the rim. Each teacup has a small molded and applied handle that has been decorated with a line of pink luster.

All of the teacups have crazing on all surfaces. Teacup .4a has spots of discoloration on the inside, and a small crack to the left of the handle. The handle of teacup .5a broke off and was repaired using a now-discolored substance. Teacup .6a has areas of discoloration on the inside, and a repaired handle. At one time, teacup .7a broke into three pieces, which were glued back together using a visually unobtrusive material. Teacup .8a has spots of discoloration on the inside, and a small crack to the right of the handle at the rim. Teacup .9a has discolored and crazed severely on the inside, and some luster has worn off the outside decoration. Teacup .10a has some spots of discoloration on the inside. Teacup .11a has spots of discoloration on the inside, and three cracks that begin at the rim. Teacup .13a has one crack that begins at the rim. Teacup .14a has a small hole in the inside surface of the ceramic, probably the result of the manufacturing process.
