DescriptionElongated baluster-shaped, blue and white parian porcelain vase with molded and applied decorative leaves, vines, and grapes. The body of the vase is two colors, a stippled blue background with white leaves and vines that cover much of the vase's upper surfaces. The vase was formed in a mold, as two mold lines are visible just below the applied decoration. There are two areas of decorative leaves, vines, and grapes applied to the narrowest point of the neck where it begins to swell to the widest diameter of the vase. The leaves and curling vines were formed in a mold, while clusters of round grapes were possibly formed by hand, then both were applied.
Portions of the vines and leaves have broken off the applied decoration, and the neck and rim of the vase have undergone extensive conservation. Much of the work was cosmetic, as a white putty-like substance was applied over white areas to reform the white leaves on the body of the vase and the white decoration on the rim.
