DescriptionA two-masted sailing vessel is sailing towards the left. A square red flag flies from the mainmast; an American flag flies from the end of the yard. Four men are in the process of raising or lowering one of the sails. A fifth man stands at the wheel. A sixth hauls on a line on the foredeck. Another stands nearby. A second yacht is in the right background, sailing in the opposite direction. Dark clouds are in the sky at the left.

NotesDate Note: The yacht Fleetwing was built in 1866 for Franklin Osgood. In December of that year, she engaged in a trans-Atlantic race with the yachts Henrietta and Vesta, which the Henrietta won. This print commemorates that race. (Finlay 8/22/2006)
