DescriptionThree buildings with extensive damage to their upper stories line a city street. The building at the left appears to be a stone church. Two Corinthian columns on bases stand at the left of the facade. Two additional columns and their capitals lie in a pile of debris in the street. The church has arched doors and windows and arches with keystones on the second story level. The second building, largely intact except for its roof, appears to be a commercial building, probably of brick. Three sets of doors and shop windows are at street level. The upper stories have quoins at the corners; a corbel table and cornice run across the upper story. The building at the far right appears to be a private house with pilasters at the corners and louvered shutters on the windows. The shutters on the second floor are closed. The roof has been reduced to rubble, and debris lies in the front yard, behind what appears to be an iron fence with square piers. Two square towers with weathervanes are visible in the right background. A man, a woman, and a small boy stand in the street in the right foreground. The man and boy point at the damaged buildings. Two additional men stand nearby.
