DescriptionFull length studio portrait of Ruth Cheney as a girl with a dog and two puppies. They are all sitting on the ground. An adult dog is laying in the background, with its head up and looking at the camera. There is one puppy sprawled on the ground in front of the dog. The other is sitting to the right of the first and both are looking at the camera. Ruth is sitting just behind the second puppy, with her right hand around its throat and using her left arm to prop herself up on the ground. Ruth is wearing a jacket and beret.
NotesDate note: Estimate based on life dates and approximate age of subject in photograph. Cataloging worksheet in object file gives dates as circa 1892. Ruth was the youngest child of Frank Woodbridge Cheney and Mary Bushnell Cheney. She had eleven older siblings. In 1912 she married Charles Archibald Goodwin.
