DescriptionPortrait of Amelia Dyer Trumbull Wyllys painted by John Trumbull and later overpainted by Ralph Earl. It is a half-length, full-face portrait. Wyllys is wearing a light brown dress gathered at the shoulders and bosom with buttons covered with the same material. A bit of lace shows at her throat. Her black hair is ornamented with ropes of dull red beads, and falls on both of her shoulders in tresses. She sits on a red upholstered chair, with dull red velvet drapery with gold edging is behind her. To the left is a landscape of green meadows and pink and blue clouds.
NotesDate note: John Trumbull painted the portrait, and Ralph Earl is thought to have completed the unfinished background around 1795.

Dimensions note: Probably cut down from original size.
