DescriptionA blue felt armband worn by Laura G. Crocker when she was a member of the Aircraft Warning Service at Sunset Ridge Country Club in East Hartford, Conn., during World War II. At the center of the armband is a white embroidered circle with "U.S. ARMY/ AWS/ AIR FORCE" in the center. Golden wings are embroidered on both sides of the circle. Beneath the logo, embroidered in gold is "OBSERVER." The armband was worn by volunteer members of the Ground Observer Corps, which was an arm of the Aircraft Warning Service (AWS) during World War II.
