DescriptionRound metal canteen covered in a brown canvas cloth with a cork stopper in neck with a metal ring in the center which is attached to a chain which is then attached to the strap near where it passes through a "loop" on the canteen. The leather strap encircles the bottom of the canteen and the two free ends can be buckled together. Belonged to Myron Daniel Webster (1839-1864) who served with the 11th and 21st Connecticut Volunteer Infantry regiments.
