DescriptionMan's shawl-collared vest of cream-colored satin, with embroidered sprigs of grapes and a leaf, also in cream-colored silk. The vest has a breast pocket on the proper left side and a pocket on each lower side. The center front opening fastens with five self-covered buttons. There is an homemade vertical buttonhole between the second and third buttonhole, to accomodate a watch chain. The vest front is padded to create the fashionable silhouette. The lower edge of the vest front is dipped; in back, the lower edge is cut in a broad notch. The backing fabric is white, twill-woven, glazed cotton. The center back of the collar has an insertion of leather. The lower edges of the front panels are lined with leather. The rest of the lining is white, twill-woven, glazed cotton, like the backing. The strap for adjusting the vest's fit has been removed.
