DescriptionMan's double-breasted vest of black ciselé velvet (having both cut and uncut pile) with a stylized floral design on a ribbled background. (The fabric design appears to be oriented upside-down.) The vest has a shawl collar that narrows towards the back of the neck. The chest is padded to achieve the fashionable silhouette. There is one breast pocket on the proper left side, and a four-inch-wide pocket on each lower front side. The back of the vest is made of dark brown, glazed, twill-woven cotton. A buckle strap across the back adjusts the fit. The lower edge of the back is cut in a double curve shape. The lining fabric is white, glazed, twill-woven cotton. The front opening edges and lower front edges are lined with black wool/cotton.
