DescriptionMan's vest of black silk damask, woven with a design of curving foliate arabesques, with occasional leaves highlighted with red veining. The vest has a shawl collar that narrows towards the back of the neck, and a center front opening that fastens with five self-covered buttons. The entire vest front is padded to help fill out the apparently slender wearer. There is one breast pocket on the proper left side, and a five-inch-wide pocket on each lower side. The bottom edge of the vest front is slightly dipped. The vest back is made of brown, glazed twill-woven cotton. The bottom edge of the vest fronts are lined with a strip of dark brown leather.
