DescriptionAn archway decorated with American flags, an American eagle, garlands, and banners spans a city street. Signs at either end read: "HONORING SOLDIERS / SAILORS". Some flags are blurred from movement. Commercial buildings, many of them decorated with flags or bunting, line the street. Signs read: "R. DOUTHWAITE / BASS & CO'S / CELEBRATED ENGLISH / & OTHER ALES WINES / CIGARS, TOBACCO &C" "CITY / HOTEL / BOARD, FEED & LIVERY / STABLE" "COOL / LAGER" "CENTENNIAL AMERICAN TEA [CO.]" The church on the left, with an Ionic portico, a tall spire with elaborate columns, cornices, balustrades and vases, is the Center Congregational Church. Horse-drawn vehicles are on the dirt street.
