DescriptionBrick commercial buildings line a city street. A banner with an allegorical figure representing America or Liberty reads: "Be Patriotic / Sign Your Country's / Pledge to Save / The Food / U.S. Food Administration." Signs on building read: "The Hartford / Coal Co.", "Conning & Co.", "W. C. Mason & Co.", "M. Rundbaken / Signs - Awnings" "Package Store" and "Lunch". American flags fly from roof tops. A building under construction is at the far left. Men and women walk on sidewalks. Automobiles, trucks, trolleys, and horse drawn wagons are in the road. Electric lights are at the right.
NotesSubject Note: W. S. Conning, Edison Lewis, W. C. Goeben, and T. W. Carter were the partners in Conning & Co., dealers in stocks, bonds, and local securities at 752 Main Street. W. C. Mason & Co. were dealers in coal and wood at 746 Main Street. Maurice Rundbaken was a sign painter at 740 Main Street.
