DescriptionOpen wooden bridge with trolley tracks, poles and wires on the right side. The bridge curves towards the north.Men in suits and hats and a small boy walk along the side of the bridge. Snow is on the bridge surface and ice is on the Connecticut River beneath. The ruins of the covered bridge are on the far right. A sign reads: "Walk / Your / Horses / Over / This Bridge." The East Hartford shore is visible in the distance.
NotesSubject Note: The Berlin Bridge Co. constructed a temporary wooden bridge after the covered bridge was destroyed by fire on May 17, 1895. This temporary bridge opened for travel on June 8, 1895. The west end was carried away on December 23, 1895 and the remaining portion was swept away by the spring freshet on March 1, 1896.
