DescriptionCrowd of men, women, boys and girls watch horse-drawn parade floats on a cobblestone street. Some use umbrellas, apparently as parasols. Small boys run beside the floats. The first float has signs that read: "Welcome / Home" "The Boston Store." The second float, which appears to be in the shape of a windmill, is decorated with tools, forks, paintbrushes and small American flags. Additional spectators are in horse-drawn carriages and on horseback at the right. A reviewing stand is decorated with flags and bunting. A large municipal or commercial building in the background is also decorated with flags.
NotesSubject Note: Parade may relate to the Spanish-American War.The Boston Store, located at 195-201 Main Street, Norwich, sold dry goods, fancy goods and millinery.
