DescriptionLarge five-story brick hotel building with signs that read: "Atlantic Hotel." Additional signs on the ground floor read: "Atlantic Hotel / News Room" "J.D. Toomey." To the left of the hotel, a building has signs that read: "Singer Sewing Machines" "Baths / Hot or Cold." A striped pole probably indicates a barbershop. The building in the right foreground appears to be a railway station. A sign on it reads "Adams [Express]." Several horse-drawn wagons are on the streets. A utility pole is at the right.
NotesSubject Note: Peter Foland was the proprietor of the Atlantic Hotel at the corner of Water Street and Fairfield Avenue, Bridgeport. According to an advertisement the hotel was located "directly opposite railroad depot."
