DescriptionIndustrial buildings on Flower Street. Road crosses over Park River, flanked by three, four and five-story masonry buildings. On right at river is "Pratt & Whitney Co" with stone block foundation and rooftop mechanical equipment. On the left is a three-story brick building with three entry porches which may be apartments; at far right is a two-wheel cart with signs, "$1; "Dr. Leny?" "Side...." On the left of the street, building sign says, "The Pratt & Whitney Co., Tools & Fixtures For Firearms, Sewing Machines & c. Taps, Dies, Bolt Cutters, Forging Machinery, Thread Size Gauges." An aerial walkway crosses the street at the fifth floor behind the "Pratt & Whitney" sign at the left. There are several smokestacks in the view. In street are utility poles, horse-drawn wagon and a fire hydrant.

NotesSubject Note: Pratt and Whitney Company was established in 1860, incorporated 1869. Small Tool Department was at 285 Flower Street. General Offices were at 1 Flower Street. Pratt and Whitney Company manufactured a wide range of precision machinery, metal tools and parts.
