DescriptionTwo steam ferries on the Connecticut River at Hartford. One is crossing toward the East Hartford side, the other, the F.C. Fowler, is docking in Hartford. Several men, some wearing suits and hats, two carrying suitcases or briefcases, stand on the shore. A horse-drawn cart is on the left and a horse-drawn delivery wagon is on the right. A third horse-drawn vehicle is on the ferry.
NotesSubject Note: The F.C. Fowler was used to shuttle traffic across the Connecticut River at Hartford, after the covered bridge across the river was destroyed by fire in 1895.
