DescriptionView of the village of Old Well from the east side of the Norwalk River. Houses and industrial buildings line the waterfront. Notes identify a "Tavern," a "Dwelling house," a "Pottery," the "Methodist" Church and the "Steam boat landing." The "new factory" is probably the Patent Carpet Company, mentioned in Barber's text. In the foreground, notes indicate the presence of "marsh" and "mud" and "cedars on bank." Details of several buildings are above and below the main drawing; a detail of a Pottery is labeled "yellow ware."
