DescriptionView of Farmington, looking south from Round Hill. The tall spire of the Congregational Church is to the right of center, with the shorter towers of the Methodist Church and Academy to its left. The Farmington River and Farmington Canal are not visible, but run along the center of the composition where Barber labeled a "sand bank" and "canal dam." The foreground consists of open fields, divided by fences, with a few scattered trees. The field at the right is labeled "meadow." The wooded hill in the background is the southern part of Talcott Mountain
