DescriptionIn the foreground a man with a top hat, probably a self-portrait of the artist, sits on top of Round Hill sketching the town of Farmington. Across the meadow, divided by fences, the central part of town runs across the drawing. The Academy and Methodist Church tower as well as the steeple of the Congregational Church are evident behind the dwelling houses. A tree-covered hill is in the background.
