DescriptionLooking west on lower State Street, Hartford, at the north side of the street during the construction of the Bulkeley Bridge. Workmen are regrading and building a sidewalk. Businesses along the south side of the street include: A. Hoffman, cigar manufacturer; Tulin, Toft & Tulin, grocers; a lodging house and a public warehouse.Patrick Garvan Inc., paper dealers is visible on the north side of the street. There is a cart in the middle of the street with an umbrella that reads "Larkin Soaps." There are trolleys in the background, where State Street meets Main Street.
