DescriptionAutomobiles and a truck travel north and south on Route 91. Some vehicles are blurred from movement. Railroad tracks run beside the highway on the left. The brick Colts Firearms building with its onion dome supported on columns is behind a chainlink fence on the far left. A man wearing a cap walks on the sidewalk near a fire hydrant. Additional cars are parked on Van Dyke Avenue, between the Colt factory and the railroad tracks. An American flag, Travelers tower, and the Hartford-Connecticut Trust Company building are visible in the background. Highway signs read: "Capital / Area / ONLY" "WEST / [blank] NORTH / 91" "84 EAST / VIA E. Hartford / Boston / EXIT 1/2 MI." "SPEED / LIMIT / 40" Electric lights line the highway and the street. Floodlights are directed at the Colt building.
NotesSubject Note: Based on the highway signs, it appears that Route 84 East from Hartford was complete when this photograph was taken, but that Route 84 West was not.
