DescriptionPrint of Pearl Street in downtown Hartford, Connecticut, depicting five buildings, including from left to right, what are possibly the Judd Building, Dime Savings Bank, the Phoenix Mutual Life Building, and State Savings Bank. A "Parking" sign appears in between what is probably State Savings Bank and the last building on Pearl Street (at Main Street). Travelers Tower and the Hartford-Connecticut Trust Building are visible in the background. There are pedestrians on the sidewalk and two automobiles parked on the street.
NotesSubject Note: This image appears in Richard Welling's Hartford Sketchbook 2. About it, he wrote, "This drawing means a lot to me because every building has been demolished to make way for One Financial Plaza and its adjoining parking complex." There is a parking sign almost all the way down Pearl Street that, according to Welling, used to be Ryans Restaurant, where Welling had a studio.
